Bob Evans Farms Inc. already is benefiting from its split from Bob Evans Restaurants.
The New Albany-based food products company, which now is separate from the privately owned restaurant chain of a similar name, on Wednesday reported a 27.1 percent increase in sales to $109.3 million in its first quarter, which ended July 28.
Net income rose 54 percent to $7 million, or 35 cents a share, from $4.5 million, or 23 cents a share, in first quarter 2017.
On a Wednesday morning conference call with stock analysts, CFO Mark Hood said the acquisition of Maine-based Pineland Farms Potato Co. added $8.6 million to sales in the quarter, while sales to Bob Evans Restaurants added $5.2 million.
