New York – New York finally got its flower show back, which it lost after the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. A very successful comeback after an absence of 10 years and heartly welcomed by the flower trade from New York as well as the USA as a whole, when looking at the figures and the cities where trade visitors were coming from. Attending buyers were registered from for example Florida, Connecticut, Washington, Maryland, North Carolina and another 17 US States. Furthermore many Canadian traders were present as well as buyers from overseas, such as from Germany and Holland. From event & wedding planners, small retail florists to importers, wholesalers and even some big retailers such as supermarket stores showed up during the three day trade show. 100+ companies exhibited from over 15 countries, including the 4 big flower producing countries Colombia, Ecuador, Ethiopia and Kenya.
The Boerma Institute from Holland presented live flower demonstrations, showing the latest trends in flower designing, during all three days of the event. This attracted a vast crowd of people and turned out to be a very valuable addition to the trade show. The number of visiting buyers tripled compared to last year’s expo held in Miami, from 405 to 1267. But what was even more impressing was the quality of buyers that attended this year’s fair. Many leading wholesalers and importers decided to send their buyers to the show and filled the aisles of the expo, especially during the first two days. It all proved to be the right time and the right place for an excellent sourcing and networking event for flower growers & flower buyers, not to forget as well for the exhibiting flower breeders!
