Wisconsin Dairies Diversify With Geraniums

Spring has come early every year over the past decade for Mary and Randy Bonde, of rural Newton, and Colleen and Jeff Loppnow, who live near Menchalville.

In fact, while most people were shivering through the first few months of the year, they were working in 72-degree temperatures, faithfully tending to their crops of 152,000 geraniums.

The Bondes and Loppnows are partners with Floral Plant Growers in Denmark, which is a leading greenhouse operation that provides a wide variety of perennials and annuals to big-box stores throughout the country.
