Wim Hazelaar (1943-2016) was the only ever Dutch World Champion florist. Additionally, he became the Dutch Champion more than once. Nephew Ruud Hazelaar, who followed in his footsteps, is organising the Wim Hazelaar Trophy as a tribute to his uncle.
Wim was exceptionally strong in solely working with whatever materials were available, which triggered his creativity. This is one of the main features of the Wim Hazelaar competition as well: the participants are challenged to work with just the materials provided to them.
With these materials, 7 different assignments have to be undertaken – and the participants do not know the exact assignments in advance. Products already used will no longer be available later, yet the participant must follow the task description as closely as possible. This requires inventiveness and creativity.

Registration for the competition is open until the 15th of August, so hurry. Please send your resume and five pictures of recent work to Ruud Hazelaar (wimhazelaartrofee@gmail.com). In the beginning of September, we will announce who will all be participating this year!
Additionally, companies can be part of this competition. This can be done by sponsoring an assignment or a participant. Both can still be done. Through your sponsoring, you show you are backing professional floristry.
