West Grove, PA — Gardeners who are looking to add “something new” this year will find a big selection of roses and perennials from Star® Roses and Plants, introducers of the legendary Knock Out® Family of Roses.
“We think gardeners will have a lot of fun with our newest roses and plants,” says Steve Hutton, president and CEO of Star® Roses and Plants/Conard-Pyle. “There is something to suit everyone’s taste and ability, be it the classic beauty of a hybrid tea rose like Dark Night or the generous pink and purple blooms of the Penstemon Rock Candy™ series.”
Among the new roses coming to garden retailers this spring are:
-
Look-A-Likes® BougainFeelYa, Hydrangealicious and Phloxy Baby – These three new additions to the Look-A-Likes® series of roses are real garden conversation-starters. Their unique blooms look like those of some of the most well-known perennials and shrubs, while also offering good disease resistance and re-blooming characteristics.
-
Popcorn Drift® – This newest addition to the popular Drift® series of roses is ideal for gardeners who love the look and performance of the Knock Out® Family of Roses, but in a smaller, tidier habit. Its small, pale yellow and white blooms are reminiscent of fresh buttered popcorn.
- Tahitian Treasure™ – This bold, bright grandiflora rose represents a breakthrough in breeding. It combines all the great flowering and disease-resistant characteristics of a landscape shrub rose with the elegant beauty of a true garden rose.
Other roses available nationwide this spring include: Big Momma™, Cloud 10™, Dark Night™, Dee-Lish®, Francis Meilland®, Mercury Rising™, Raspberry Cream Twirl™ and Tequila Gold™.
Additional roses available to West Coast gardeners include Cinnamon Dolce™, Fired Up™ and three additions to the Eyeconic® series of roses: Lychee Lemonade, Melon Lemonade and Pomegranate Lemonade. All of the Eyeconic® roses feature the distinctive center “blotch” characteristic of their Hybrid Hulthemia breeding.
To complement all of those new roses, gardeners can explore the perennial offerings of the Rock Candy™ Penstemon series, including Pink Rock Candy™ and Purple Rock Candy™, and the latest from the Suncrest Salvia series: ‘Autumn Moon’, ‘Fancy Dancer’ and ‘Lemon Light’. Rounding out this season’s perennial offerings are four plants from the Moody Blues™ Veronica series, comprised of Dark Blue Moody Blues™, Light Blue Moody Blues™, Mauve Moody Blues™ and Pink Moody Blues™. All of the plants in this series feature a compact, tidy habit and excellent re-blooming qualities, making them ideal for using in the garden or in containers.
