Simple Blooms Go Up-Market

You’re hosting a party at your home and putting the finishing touches to the table when you notice the empty spot at its center and realize you forgot to pick up flowers.

With dozens of tasks still to complete, the quickest solution is to run to the corner deli or grocery store and pick up a bouquet or two. But will these market blooms be fresh and on a par with the rest of your party decor?

They will if you take a few tips from floral designers who say making sure you get quality blooms and dressing them up is easier than you think.

“Spin it in a positive way,” advises Lynn Jawitz, owner of Florisan LLC in Manhattan. “We’re lucky to be able to get flowers when the whim strikes. We can go to a late night grocery store or supermarket.”
