WEST CHICAGO, IL – Selecta is thrilled to accept a 2015 All-America Selections Award for its Interspecific Impatiens Bounce Pink Flame. This disease-tolerant variety performed beautifully in trials nationwide, which was the first season for vegetatively propagated plant entries for AAS.
In Pennsylvania, the Peace Tree Farm trial managers were a “big fan” of this variety. “The flower color was bright and caught your eye from afar,” according to comments on the evaluation report. At the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, Bounce was “noticeably more floriferous than the comparisons”; the liners were starting to bloom when they received their shipment. And at Neal Mast in Michigan, they found Bounce to have a “nicer, more rounded habit” with a “much higher flower count all summer.”
“Securing an All-America Selections win for Bounce Pink Flame is a great validation that this plant performs in many garden conditions. Selecta is very happy to be recognized in national trials for this variety, and we look forward to providing home gardeners a colorful shade solution,” says Monique Hakkert, product marketing manager for Selecta North America.
The Bounce series of impatiens has the look and flower count of I. walleriana, but its interspecific cross makes it resistant to Impatiens Downy Mildew. It thrives in sun and shade applications, and offers bright color in garden borders or hanging baskets.
