Schoneveld Breeding Wins International Grower Of The Year 2014

This year's competition, which took place during the annual congress of the AIPH in Qingdao, China, was very exciting. Schoneveld was competing against candidates from Canada, China and Denmark. The Dutch nursery won the competition convincingly, receiving the highest marks from the international jury for all criteria. The jury praised Schoneveld for the way the breeding company unites the supply chain, responds to market demands, offers a choice of niche Primula and Cyclamen products in a highly competitive market, and runs an excellent research programme for primarily sustainable cultivation.

The nominations for International Grower of the Year are submitted by 25 member countries of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH). The Chinese candidate, Fujian Liancheng Orchid Corp, won the silver rose. This company of 80 hectares and three locations produces 11 million orchids every year.

Every year, the National Horticultural Entrepreneur Award Foundation (Stichting Tuinbouw Ondernemersprijs) nominates the best horticultural candidate for the AIPH award. This foundation provides international marketing activities, makes agreements regarding plant breeders' rights and coordinates international exhibitions such as the Floriade and other horticultural exhibitions.
