The 135th Annual SAF Convention was held this year on Amelia Island in Florida. Once again, it proved to be a highly valuable and educational opportunity for hundreds of attendees.
A highlight of the convention is always the Outstanding Varieties Competition, one of the industry’s largest floral competitions. Thousands of varieties are judged across five categories: color and commercial appeal; stem and foliage; bloom form; bloom size; and overall quality/presentation. Expert judges award one Best in Show and 13 Best in Class, and present blue and red ribbons to dozen’s more.
This year, Rio Roses was proud to be awarded nine ribbons: Four red ribbons for our Lola Standard Rose, Frutteto Standard Rose, Table Dance Oriental Lily, and Lexington Hybrid Lily; four blue ribbons for our Sweet Sensation Baby Spray Rose, Hanoi Ranunculus, Candlelight Garden Rose, and Dark Delphinium; and we were thrilled to be awarded Best in Class for our Sweet Sensation Baby Spray Rose.
