Lee Behrhorst was 4 years old when he developed a fondness for gardening and the feel of dirt under his fingernails.
His passion for plants started when he'd work in victory gardens with his dad during World War II. The two would collect produce for the war effort, he said.
Today, his south Fort Myers retail nursery, Sundance Orchids & Bromeliads, maintains the feel of an overgrown hobby, but has the look of a well-oiled operation.
Small garden pockets surround the greenhouses to give customers a glimpse at the different plant arrangement possibilities and the nursery is filled with colors and blooms.
