New Belgian Sempervivum Collection Wins Bronze

In late August, Belgicactus walked away with the bronze medal at Florall 2015 for its collection of seven new Sempervivum varieties. The jury found it to be a rewarding new plant collection for the consumer. The jury also praised the fresh, contemporary and striking presentation, as well as valuing the fact that the company had bred the collection itself.

All about the new varieties
Green volcan has a fine-haired green rosette with black leaf tips and offshoots. The leaves of the main plant are arranged in a spiral. Pastelis, which takes its name from its soft green colour, is a white-haired, light-green Sempervivum with brown leaf tips. Nurani can be identified by its grey-green rosette fringed with light white hairs. This Sempervivum produces a considerable number of offshoots. Zelena is a highly compact, hard, green variety with a soft, velvety sheen to its leaves. Apricot Dust owes its name to its beautiful apricot colour in late autumn. It has a striking white-haired rosette in shades of yellow to red-brown with offshoots. Darkona’s most striking feature is its glossy, brown-black rosette, and its elongated leaves have sharp points. Finally, Cuprum has a grey-bronze rosette, with leaves fringed with white hairs. It is from spring to early summer that this newcomer’s colour is at its best.
