National Garden Bureau Forges Ahead With Social Media

DOWNERS GROVE, IL – National Garden Bureau, the non-profit organization promoting gardening on behalf of the horticulture industry, has been increasing the use of Social Media in the past two years and has recently surpassed 47,500 repins on Pinterest.

Pinterest is a visually oriented website used to collect ideas for user’s projects. Users create and share their ideas, organized into “boards” of visual bookmarks called “Pins”.  The most popular repins fall under the categories of home, arts and crafts, style and food. Since gardening can relate to almost all of those categories, it’s a perfect tool for consumers to collect ideas for their own gardens.

National Garden Bureau (NGB) has taken advantage of the popularity of this site to promote NGB members, their products and gardening as a whole. On Pinterest, National Garden Bureau boasts almost 9,000 followers and over 5,500 pins that have an extremely high engagement rate of 92% as measured by the Pinterest analytics site Tailwind.

Individual boards showing the most interest include:

            1. AAS Winners – flowers with over 4,400 followers and 200 pins

            2. Patio Pots and Containers with 300+ pins and more than 2,200 followers

            3. General Gardening tips with just over 200 pins and also more than 2,200 followers
