Monrovia's VP Of Sales, David Kirby, Honored By Alma Mater

AZUSA, Calif. – David Kirby, vice president of sales for Monrovia, was honored this month by Texas Tech University’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources as a Distinguished Alumni. The award is bestowed on those who’ve made significant contributions to society, and whose accomplishments and careers have brought distinction to the college and to the professions associated with agriculture and natural resources.

Kirby’s first job at age 16 was at Garrison Gardens, a retail garden center in Plano, Tex., and worked his way through college at Kingsgate Garden Center in Lubbock, Tex. He joined Monrovia as a college intern in the early 90s while studying horticulture at Texas Tech. He was hired in 1992 as an in-house sales rep for three years, and for the next 17 years, handled Monrovia’s central coastal California sales territory, consistently achieving top sales accolades. He was promoted to vice president of sales in 2012.

He is an active board member of the local chapter of the California Association of Nursery and Garden Centers. He lives with his wife and two sons in Dana Point, Calif. When not gardening, he enjoys surfing and riding dirt bikes, and he plays guitar and sings in a band.
