Haslett, MI – On March 2nd, 2013 at the Great Lakes Floral Expo, during the Saturday evening President’s Recognition Banquet held in the beautiful Pantlind Ballroom at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in downtown Grand Rapids, MI., the Michigan Floral Association (MFA) presented FloraCraft Corporation of Ludington, MI with the 2013 "Supplier of the Year Award."
The criteria for being nominated for this honor reads as follows:
This company or individual has demonstrated outstanding service and support to the MFA.
Each year the MFA Awards and Nominations Committee is responsible for soliciting and reviewing award nominations. The Committee sends all qualified nominations to a panel of independent judges who evaluate and complete an evaluation form for each nominee. The Committee then totals the points received for each candidate nominated in a specific category and averages. The candidate receiving the highest average score in each category is then chosen to receive the award.
Following is information that was submitted to the MFA Awards and Nominations committee about FloraCraft, the 2013 Michigan Floral Association Supplier of the Year:
• Founded in 1946 this Michigan based Company started in business selling Michigan natural foliage that they preserved, dyed and painted to florists throughout the state.
• Discovering the unique properties of Styrofoam, they worked with the Dow Chemical Co. to develop the Styrofoam brand and began to fabricate many unique items from it.
• Over the years their business has become the world’s largest fabricator of Styrofoam products and today they employ over 300 people with facilities in Michigan, Arkansas, California and Mexico.
• This company has always been a valuable supporter to the Michigan Floral Association; they are committed to the florists of Michigan and believe that the future of the floral industry is sustained only through education and knowledge of the industry and the opportunities it presents.
