More than 40 organisations attended the Floriculture Sustainability Initiative (FSI) at the IFTF International Trade Fair in Vijfhuizen, The Netherlands. Participants were updated on the first Projects contracted by FSI members covering sustainability topics both in Europe and in the main producing areas in Africa and South America.
The projects combine a range of topics, partners and activities, including the Control of Residues, Water and Workers Rights amongst others. The dynamic group of FSI members include front-runners from the floriculture sector and civil society partners. The projects unite the members in their joint ambition to pro-actively tackle key issues in their supply chain. The projects are co-funded by the Sustainable Trade Initiative, IDH.
At the meeting the updated FSI portal was also presented. It provides information on more than 15 floriculture standards and enables comparison of their requirements per region, topic and in general. The aim of the portal is to create a common language on sustainability amongst the FSI members. The FSI portal, also known as the Equivalency tool, is developed in close partnership with the International Trade Centre, a joint agency of the World Trade Organisation and the UN.
