Royal FloraHolland started auctioning flowers and plants one hour earlier in Aalsmeer, Naaldwijk and Rijnsburg on Tuesday 23 April 2019, the day after Easter. Despite the disruption in the auction process that occurred that day, all locations achieved the intended end time. We finished well before 1 pm.
Royal FloraHolland implemented various improvements in the run-up to the 2019 Peak Days. In addition to the purchase of 15,500 extra auction trolleys and the rent of 25,000 CC containers, we also started auctioning plants one hour earlier this year. Given the achieved end times of last Tuesday, the logistic improvements appear to be paying off. The next early auction day is planned for Monday 6 May 2019, in the week before Mother’s Day.
The infographic below gives an overview of the logistic performance on Tuesday 23 April 2019. In this infographic, the end time that we guarantee based on the number of transactions is compared to the end time that was actually achieved.
