Gilroy, CA In Bloom: Spring Trials, Flower Fest

South County's nursery industry will participate in California's annual Spring Trials through March 31. This statewide event entails a lovely showcase of varietals in elaborate displays to attract retail nurseries, commercial growers and other buyers, according to Jennifer Williams, executive director of the Santa Clara County Farm Bureau.

“The nurseries work for months to have their plants ready for the trials, and they switch plants out each day to ensure they look their freshest,” she said.

Local participants include HeadStart Nursery and Syngenta Flowers in Gilroy, Speedling in San Juan Bautista and Sakata Seeds (which is based on Morgan Hill but is hosting their trials at their nursery in Salinas).
