WATERLOO, Iowa — Flowerama, a Waterloo-based floral retailer with 100 locations in 28 states, has been sold to 1-800-Flowers.com Inc.
1-800-Flowers.com, which employs more than 2,200 people, is a publicly traded company based in Carle Place, N.Y. Founded in 1976 by James McCann, the company offers its products online and through company-owned and operated retail floral stores and franchised stores.
Calls to the corporate office of 1-800-Flowers.com seeking comment on the specifics of the merger and impact on local stores were not returned.
