Expo Flor Ecuador 2018: An Unforgettable Experience

The international trade show Expo Flor Ecuador 2018 was held between September 19th through the 21st at the Metropolitan Convention Center of Quito on the grounds of the city´s Bicentennial Park.

In this first edition of the event more than 1,600 flower buyers representing over 50 nationalities participated from around the world. Expo Flor Ecuador 2018´s success was due as much to the 2,000 visitors that joined the event, as to the beauty of the flowers on display. 

“We began the organization of the show two years ago; it was a significant challenge which required team work. The show was coordinated and organized by the National Association of Growers and Exporters of Flowers in Ecuador – Expoflores,” said Alejandro Martinez, Executive President of Expoflores.

The Expo Flor Ecuador 2018 show was a reflection of the commitment, effort and dedication of the floriculture sector. Over 123 exhibitors displayed the beauty and charm of Ecuadorian flowers for the world to see. Among the exhibitors, who were all together under one roof, were actors from across the value chain, such as: Flower Growers, breeders, logistics companies, wholesalers, retailers, freight forwarders, airlines and other providers participated. The tradeshow also marked the pre-inauguration of the Metropolitan Convention Center of Quito, as it was its first time in use for an event.

According to Juan José Albuja, the President of the Board of Expoflores, “The continuing commitment of the national and local authorities to support the competitiveness of the sector through trade agreements is essential to strengthen exports and protect the country´s trade strategy.” His remarks were made during the inauguration of the show where the President of Ecuador, Lenín Moreno Garcés, the Mayor of Quito, Mauricio Rodas, and the Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Pablo Campana, all attended. Diplomatic representatives to Ecuador also joined the inauguration as well as other national and local authorities. “We Connect Emotions”, the official video for the Flor Ecuador brand was also launched during the inauguration. It is available on YouTube as well as on the Facebook fan page of “Flor Ecuador Expoflores.” These channels also offer access to the daily summary videos and photos of the show during the three-day event in Quito.

The quality of the products as well as the commitment of the participants and its organizers positioned Expo Flor Ecuador´s trade show at the highest level. It will be able to compete with the best international flower trade shows around the world and is to be held every other year in Quito.
