U.S. ambassador to Ecuador Nathalie Cely was quite taken with Ecuadorian roses at a discussion with journalists about Ecuador’s flower industry, ATPDEA and the future of Ecuador’s flower exports to the United States during the recent 2012 World Floral Expo.
"The quality of the Ecuadorian rose is recognized in the world, its stems can be up to two meters," said Nathalie Cely, U.S. ambassador to Ecuador, who attended the opening of the 2012 World Floral Expo at the Jacob Javits convention center in Manhattan.
"Ecuador exported $678 million on flowers in 2011, almost a quarter of total agricultural exports of the country," said the ambassador, who noted that workers paid above the minimum wage and working condition shave"worthy".
