The Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers (ASCFG) announces five Regional Meetings to be held in 2011.
Regional Meetings are informal, usually one-day gatherings at which growers can tour cut flower farms, research facilities or other points of interest, listen to a variety of speakers, and participate in networking opportunities. All growers are welcome; people interested in learning more about cut flower production and marketing are particularly encouraged to participate. Sessions are varied, and this year include speakers on cut garden roses, bouquet making, wedding flowers, woody plants, healthy soils, postharvest handling and much more.
ASCFG Regional Meeting lineup:
-
A combined West and Northwest Regional Meeting in Central Point, Oregon on June 26. Tours of Newflora Roses and Le Mera Gardens will be featured.
-
The Northeast Regional Meeting is July 16-17, based in Burlington, Vermont. Stray Cat Farm, The Painted Tulip, and Third Branch Flower will open their doors to attendees for farm tours.
-
On August 1, the South & Central Region will meet at Cuts of Color in Weimar, Texas.
-
The Midwest Regional Meeting is in Wooster, Ohio on August 8, at OSU’s OARDC. The meeting will include a tour of the Secrest Arboretum, and talks on postharvest, organic weed management, and floral design.
- The Southeast Regional Meeting, August 15, is in Charleston, South Carolina. It will include morning speaker sessions, and an afternoon tour of Magnolia Plantations and Gardens.
