Cornell Floriculture Field Day, July 20, 2010

We invite you to attend our 8th annual Floriculture Field Day. The main theme of the morning talks is reaching new customers through new niches or new services. Bruce Hellerick from The Brickman Group will report on trends from the landscaping industry. Carmen Johnston will talk about how she developed a new business, Nectar and Company, to expand the market for her husband’s wholesale greenhouse. For those more interested in crop culture there will be talks on getting the most out of fertilizers and plant growth regulators. Finally, Dan Segal of The Plantsmen Nursery will focus on native plants, sharing 10 plants that work and how to grow them.

Attendees are invited to enter their container designs into the Kathy Pufahl Memorial Container contest. We’ll spend the afternoon at Bluegrass Lane. Participants can walk the trial beds at their leisure or join the informal guided tours. The perennials tour will be led by famous author Allan Armitage! We’ll end with ice cream and the announcement of the container contest winners.

It will truly be an occasion for networking, learning, inspiration and the sheer enjoyment of floriculture. Rain or shine, we’ll see you there!

Sincerely, Neil Mattson

Assistant Professor and Floriculture Extension Specialist
