In connection with the commemoration of the centenary of the Great War, Lens Roses has marketed a new moschata hybrid called ‘Poppy Rose’. It has large clusters of dark-red flowers that look like poppies, which have become a symbol of the First World War. ‘Poppy Rose’ grows to about 100 cm tall and 60 cm wide. The newly opened flowers present their yellow stamens and have a herb-like scent. This shrub can be planted in the garden as a block, in groups, amongst perennials in borders or in a pot. This new Belgian article received a Bronze Florall Award; the jury appreciated the social engagement it represented, since part of the royalties go to a social project in Tanzania.
