When Leisa Cook attended a floral design conference in San Francisco last summer, an idea blossomed.
After about five years of letting the idea germinate, Cook is poised to open what she believes is Montana’s first school of flower arranging. Montana School of Floral Design plans to offer multi-week basic and advanced workshops for retail employees and people who buy flowers but don’t know how to arrange them.
She also hopes to hold one-night hobby classes and demonstrations for clubs and other organizations.
Cook has an art degree from Kent State University and subsequent classes at Hixson’s School of Floral Design in Ohio. She also studied floral design in Holland. At the San Francisco conference, she was given a certified floral designer distinction.
