It has been almost three weeks since the Green Fair Week in Holland, but looking back is also very pleasant. Through three days of inspiration at the IFTF in Vijfhuizen, the Netherlands proved again that there is a place for an international florist event. This was shown by a further increase in visiting florists: 1,400 (a rise of 55% from 2016) from 50 different countries. A great number of visitors, taking countless pictures, especially of the competitions.
Wim Hazelaar Trofee
Many candidates have applied for this second edition. Eventually, 12 participants from 7 countries were invited to enter. And after two days of arranging, Ani Poklepovi? from Croatia became the ultimate winner of the ‘Trofee’. The Mobach trofee was handed over by Karin Pasman, winner of the first edition. Next to this, awards were handed over by Chris Martens from Smithers-Oasis and Joan Stam from Bloomtube. Katharina Albrechtsen from Denmark received a special prize from Pini Cohen from Decofresh Roses: she may name a brand new rose variety.
First World of Flowers Student Challenge
New in the World of Flowers was the Student Challenge on Friday 10th of November. Eight students of the MBO Westland school competed for beautiful prizes. Three arrangements in a very short time, and in front of the visitors! Although new for the students, they coped very well and enjoyed the competition. Chrysal, Barendsen and Oogenlust as main sponsors awarded the entire group with an invite to their companies, with additional activities like workshops. And of course a main award for this year’s winner: Gwen Hofman.
World of Trends and Florist Lounge
Right next to the competitions, visitors were inspired by the different worlds of trends: colour, senses and shape. Worlds created by Mignon Kievit (Metto Design) and the team of florists headed by Michael van Namen. And after the inspiration relaxing in the Florist Lounge, talking to like-minded visitors, enjoying a cupper and watching the competitions.
