Woolwich Dairy of Orangeville (Ontario) Canada, and Lancaster, Wisconsin, was one of three dairies selected as grand champions of the 2012 World Dairy Expo (WDE) Dairy Product Contest. Woolwich Dairy was named the Cheese and Butter Grand Champion, with a 99.9% score for its Wild Blueberry Vanilla goat’s milk cheese, and also took second and third place—Cranberry Cinnamon and Fine Herb, respectively—in the goat milk cheese category.
The contest—sponsored by the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association, and the only national one of its kind that includes all dairy products—received a record 720 entries throughout North America, plus two international entries, with categories ranging from cheese, butter and milk, to yogurt, ice cream, sour and whipping creams. Woolwich Dairy will be afforded the unprecedented opportunity to promote and market their Wild Blueberry Vanilla goat’s milk cheese, as “the best of the best” in North America.
“We’re pleased and proud to be recognized by our peers,” said Lindsay Gregory, Woolwich Dairy’s marketing manager. “These awards are a credit to our cheesemakers, who are completely dedicated to consistently producing for us the best quality, premium goat milk dairy products in North America.”
Established in 1983 by the Dutra family, Woolwich Dairy has pioneered the growth of Canada’s premium goat’s milk cheese and dairy category, and is considered one of leading sources of specialty goat cheeses—many award-winning—in North America today.
