Watsonville's Garden Variety Cheese Awarded Grant

CAPITOLA – Artisan sheep cheese and yogurt producer Garden Variety Cheese recently received a grant from Whole Foods Market as was one of 15 recipients selected for a 2017 “Local Producer Grant.” Owner/cheese maker Rebecca King plans to invest the grant funds in areas including efforts to upgrade their milking parlor and reduce labor costs.

On Sunday, July 23, King will appear at Whole Foods in Capitola (1710 41st Ave.), giving out cheese samples. On July 26, all Northern California Whole Foods Market stores will be donating five percent of sales to the grant program, which supports small local businesses to “help them grow their enterprises.”
