Websterville, Vt. – French for "jewel," Vermont Creamery's Bijou took home a Gold sofi Award at the Specialty Food Association's 2014 Fancy Food Show this week. This is the second Gold sofi Award for Bijou in the past five years, and the fifth for Vermont Creamery products.
"Bijou showcases everything that is special about small batch goats' milk cheese," said Allison Hooper, co-owner and co-founder of Vermont Creamery.
A small, crottin-like goat cheese, Bijou is made with fresh goats milk and aged for seven days, allowing its unique, wrinkled geotrichum rind to form. Slightly sweet with a nutty flavor, Bijou is the gem of Vermont Creamery's aged cheese line.
