Specialty Food Association Executive Re-Appointed To USDA Advisory Committee

NEW YORK — Ron Tanner, vice president, philanthropy, government and industry relations at the Specialty Food Association, has been re-appointed to the USDA's Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee for Trade in Processed Foods (ATAC). He has served on the committee since 2004.

The ATAC is a private sector body that provides technical advice on U.S. agricultural trade issues to the Secretary of Agriculture and the U.S. Trade Representative. As an ATAC member, Tanner represents the Specialty Food Association's 3,000 member companies and the $109 billion specialty food industry in helping to shape U.S. agricultural trade policy. The appointment runs through June 15, 2019.

Tanner joined the Specialty Food Association in 1987. He oversees all Association government and industry relations and runs the Specialty Food Foundation. He also represents the not-for-profit trade association at key industry events and conferences, often presenting on the specialty food industry, specialty food consumers and other subjects of interests to buyers, state trade groups, culinary professionals and others. Prior to his current position, Tanner managed the Association's extensive education program, its public relations activities and the sofi Awards for the outstanding specialty foods of the year.
