Sabra Brings Sport Of Fencing To Thousands Of Students Across The Country

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Sabra® Dipping Company, in conjunction with Fencing in the Schools, today announced they will sponsor fencing programs for thousands of students across the country during the 2014-2015 school year. The students will be provided with everything they need to begin fencing, including the use of specially designed, state-of-the-art equipment, and lessons from trained instructors. To launch the program, each school will receive a visit from an Olympian and learn about the value of healthy living and healthy snacking while sharing some Sabra hummus, guacamole, salsa, and Greek yogurt veggie dip.

"Sabra's contribution will be making a major impact in the lives of children across the country," said Fencing in the Schools founder Tim Morehouse. "Only one-fourth of 12-15-year-olds get the recommended 60-minutes of physical activity per day. Combined with the prevalence of fast food, our kids are at risk for major health problems unless something changes. Our program—which teaches kids about proper exercise and healthy eating—conveys important information in a fun and easily understandable way that resonates with kids and gets them moving at the same time."

Since its launch last year, Fencing in the Schools has started fencing programs in 7 states and introduced the sport to over 10,000 children. With Sabra's help, they hope to double that number this year and reach 1,000,000 kids by 2023.

"We're proud to partner with an organization that shares our goals for a healthier America," said Greg Greene, Sabra Marketing Director. "Nutrition and exercise go hand in hand. Fencing in The Schools and programs like it make a real difference by presenting opportunities to help kids improve their well-being."
