BOSTON — Phantom recently purchased four tubs of spreadable port wine cheese at a local supermarket. The creamy contenders were Heluva Good, Old Fashioned Cheese, President and WisPride. See if you can guess which brand ended up at the top of the food chain.
President pub cheese finished in last place. As soon as Phantom peeled open the package he could see that this pale colored cheese was way more whipped than the other brands. And while that did provide an ultra airy texture, it also led to a flavor that was a bit too mild for Phantom’s taste. On the upside, the wide mouth opening made for an easy cracker dipping experience.
Next up, Old Fashioned Cheese delivers a serious bang for your buck with almost twice as much cheese per tub than the other competitors. Smooth and tangy, it spreads easily onto a cracker for a simple snack. Unfortunately, the addition of soybean oil gives this cheese a greasy mouthfeel that Phantom just couldn’t forgive.
