If there is one event that deserves attention by Rogue Valley residents, it is the annual Cheese Festival sponsored by the Oregon Cheese Guild. This event only improves in quality each year. Thanks to the efforts of the Central Point Police Department to keep the traffic flowing, better than adequate parking arrangements, and friendly and enthusiastic vendors, the Oregon Cheese Festival is a joy to attend.
As the name suggests, cheese makers from all over Oregon display their wares, offer samples, and provide great sales prices. Added to the delights of the cheese mongers, wine, beer, chocolate, honey, and a host of other Rogue Valley specialty products are available to sample and appreciate.
A special opportunity for the true cheese fans to meet the cheese makers is the dinner Friday night at the Inn of the Commons. $125 tickets include a sumptuous 5 course cheese-themed meal by Chef Damon of Inn at the Commons, and spotlights a cheese made by one of the festival's artisans, paired with a local wine or beer. Master of Ceremonies for the dinner is Gordon Edgar, author of Cheesemonger: a Life on the Wedge.
