Only N.L. Cheesemaker Sees 'Huge Opportunity' For Secondary Milk Processing In Province

One of the few secondary milk processors left in Newfoundland and Labrador hopes for growth in the sector, despite facing numerous challenges to success.

"It's not always easy," says Adam Blanchard, the owner of Five Brothers Artisan Cheese, which has the distinction of being the only commercial cheesemaker in the province.

Blanchard said it was sad to hear the news of Scotsburn Ice Cream's impending closure of its St. John's plant, leaving only Five Brothers and a few small ice cream makers left turning the province's milk into other products.
