Michigan Farmstead Wins Top National Awards For Its Gourmet Goat Cheeses

BEAVERDAM, Mi – Country Winds Creamery is on top of the world of cheese these days, having won awards in two categories of goat cheese at last month's annual meeting of the American Cheese Society in Des Moines, Iowa.

For John and Mary Windemuller, the second place award for their Tomme cheese and the third place award for their Crottin cheese validates years of dedication that began with their daughter's 4-H goats nearly 20 years ago.

Beset with severe health problems that were diagnosed as untreatable, Mary Windemuller said she gave up her medical treatment and started drinking the raw goat milk produced from their daughter's 4-HG goats.
