Maplebrook Finds Success With Award-Winning Cheeses

BENNINGTON — Since a fateful meeting at deli in 2003, Maplebrook Farms has been in constant need of two things: Space to make more cheese and space to put the awards that the cheese earns.

Co-owner Michael Scheps said the business is looking to tear down a vacant house on the lot it occupies to make room for cheese-making equipment it currently does not have enough space to use.

"We had 46 employees this year at our peak," he said. "With this addition, I assume with the specialty department, we might be up to 60 people next year, easily."
