Madison, WI – Who says you can’t go home again? But, in a sandwich truck? Credit the entrepreneurial spirit of Sara Pepitone and her partner Gregory McCarty with the idea of offering gourmet sandwiches from their a truck at the East Wharf Beach during the latter days of summer.
Pepitone, who grew up on East Wharf Road, and McCarty, both culinary school graduates, officially debuted Beach Street Sandwiches the first weekend in August and will continue offering sandwiches and cold drinks Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Labor Day. In addition, the couple will be selling their sandwiches at concerts on the Green in Madison and near the Green in the New Haven as well as at private parties.
The couple came up with the innovative idea of selling gourmet sandwiches from a mobile truck to fill their desire to open their open business and they decided that going the route of a truck, rather than a restaurant was the more financially sound decision. Not only that, but their sandwich board menu is a foodie’s delightful alternative to the hot dog and hamburger.
