It's The 'Year Of Cheese' At Wisconsin's Jefferson County Fair

JEFFERSON — It will be the “Year of the Cheese” as the Jefferson County Fair next July highlights local cheesemakers, retailers and dairy farmers.

This year, for the first time, fair organizers solicited input from the public to choose the annual theme for the fair. At a public forum in August, ballots were available for people to vote on their favorite idea for a theme, with an additional area to write in suggestions.

The tradition of developing a theme for the fair began in 2010, and it has grown in popularity ever since.

“People really look forward to finding out what the theme is, so this year we took that a step further to let them have a voice in it,” said Jefferson County Fair Park director David Diestler.
