On January 14th, Hillshire Farm launched the “Most Wanted Sandwich” contest, selecting 15 highly influential bloggers from across the country, known as the Hillshire Farm “Fresh 15,” to create original and delicious recipes that pay tribute to their home region – while using Hillshire Farm premium quality lunchmeat as the base of their sandwich. With more than 260,000 votes cast for “Most Wanted Sandwich,” the BLT2 received nearly 20 percent of the total vote to capture the top prize.

The BLT2 recipe consists of:
•Hillshire Farm Deli Select® Mesquite Smoked Turkey Breast
•Challah bread
•Bacon
•Red leaf lettuce
•Tomato, sliced
•Cheddar cheese
•Red onions & roasted red peppers, sliced
•Italian dressing
•Fresh ground pepper, to taste
•Honey mustard dipping sauce, as condiment
Directions:
1. Spread a layer of honey mustard sauce on the challah bread; place red leaf lettuce on top of the first bread slice
2. Top with tomato slices and season with pepper, to taste
3. Place three slices of bacon over the tomato and then top with turkey, cheese and roasted red peppers
4. Drizzle a little Italian dressing over the red peppers and then top with the remaining slice of bread
As winner of the “Most Wanted Sandwich” contest, Schmidt received a cash prize of $5,000 and a $6,500 donation made by Hillshire Farm to her charity of choice – Compassion International, a child advocacy organization that provides support to children facing economic, social and physical poverty.
