From Cow To Curd: Artisan Cheese Making In Minnesota

BROOTEN – Life has come full circle for Alise Sjostrom.

Three days a week, Sjostrom is out of the house before the sun comes up. Heading out across the driveway, Sjostrom makes her way to the gray building adorned with the logo that bears a slight resemblance to her, or more precisely, her vibrant red hair.

On entering the quaint little shop filled with wooden tables and a display case, Sjostrom takes her shoes off and walks in stocking feet to the basement only to put on a hair net and muck boots. She is ready to start her labor intensive day.

About the same time, her father Jerry Jennissen crosses the same driveway to head to the barn to milk 180 dairy cows his family owns.
