French Cheese Board Hosts Free Tasting Event In NY On December 18th

NEW YORK, NY  – There are over 1200 cheeses in France, and while most have been around forever, there are some new ones that have made their way across the Atlantic. All are delectable!  The French Cheese Board (FCB) would like to introduce you to two new cheeses, along with a classic one – all perfect for this holiday season. Enjoy them on their own or as part of a recipe.  Whenever you add French cheese to any recipe, you Make it Magnifique!  Come discover the double crème that thinks it a triple crème – which on its own is worth the detour – but when you add black truffle it becomes a favorite for life. How about some whipped cheese that can take on sweet or savory qualities with the turn of a whisk? Light and airy, it takes ordinary bagel and lox and turns it into an appetizer worthy of Christmas canapés. Last but not least, a classic winter favorite: Raclette.  Raclette, which means “to scrape” in French, is the ideal cozying up by the fireplace-type cheese.  It melts wonderfully on crusty baguette or on potatoes and charcuterie, which is how the French enjoy it during long winters.

FCB will be promoting these cheeses during Cheese Obsessed: a two-week celebration from December 16-30, 2014.

On December 18, we will be creating different mouthwatering recipes and selling the cheeses at special prices.

WHEN:            Thursday, December 18, 2014

About The Cheeses of Europe and the ‘MAKE IT MAGNIFIQUE’ campaign

With the support of the European Union, CNIEL (The French Dairy Inter-Branch Organization, whose mission is to promote cheeses of France world-wide), recently debuted a new marketing and communications campaign– MAKE IT MAGNIFIQUE – as well as the new Cheeses of Europe website: www.thecheesesofeurope.com.

To promote the new campaign, twenty unique 2-minute recipe videos were shot featuring celebrity Top Chefs Angelo Sosa, Candice Kumai and Camille Becerra. In the videos, the chefs showcase their favorite recipes utilizing the Cheeses of France, such as Mac and Mimolette, Grilled Steak with Fourme d’Ambert, Grilled Cheese with Emmental and Comté, Baked Camembert, Red Onion and Raclette Pizza and Ham and Brie Quiche.

The main goal of the ‘Make it Magnifique’ campaign is to demonstrate to US consumers that the Cheeses of Europe can easily be incorporated into their everyday meals at home. French cheeses may be consumed at any time of the day, are absolutely adaptable to American cuisine, and turn a simple meal into something Magnifique!
