Cheese School Of San Francisco's Co-Owner Daphne Zepos Passes Away At 52

San Francisco, CA – Daphne Zepos, an expert cheesemonger and co-owner of Cheese School of San Francisco, passed away from lung cancer on July 3 in her home at the age of 52. In honor of Zepos, Cheese School of San Francisco would like to take time to honor her life. Internationally known for her expertise in cheese, Zepos shared her knowledge to many through writing and training.

“She was one of the brightest stars I’ve ever met,” Kiri Fisher, co-owner of Cheese of San Francisco, said. “Her eclectic and erudite tastes made any discussion of cheese rich with history and beautiful with imagery. I learned so much in the short time we spent together; about cheese, business, and how to share one’s passion with others.”

During her life, Zepos traveled throughout the U.S. and Europe in search of fine cheeses, including the farms of small producers and cheese makers whom she understood and deeply supported. She had a passion for cheese, and had taught others how to appreciate its different varieties, with their distinct tastes, scents and textures.

“We're deeply saddened by the news of the death of my business partner, Daphne Zepos,” Fisher said. “I want people to know that the school will carry on in her vision.”

And in light of the school’s summer operations, Fisher said, “We've just begun the first classes of the summer schedule. And we're booking cheese catering for summer parties and weddings, including wedding cakes made from wheels of cheese, a different kind of cheese cake so to speak.”

Cheese School of San Francisco offers a variety of services, including corporate catering, cheese platters and hors d'oeuvres.
