Cheese with fruit, flavors and all kinds of add-ins seem to be ever more popular these days.
Yancey’s Fancy of Corfu, N.Y., makes a large line of flavored cheeses found in many local markets. Yancey’s flavors of processed cheese range from superhot pepper-laden cheeses, to milder versions flavored with wine or fruit, to smoky styles with or without bacon.
I’m a cheese purist and usually prefer natural cheeses to those that have been flavored, although there are some notable exceptions, such as Long Clawson’s Cotswold and any of the Somerdale blended cheeses from Wales.
