Ottawa – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the operating licence of Establishment 457, Salaison Levesque Inc., effective November 18, 2013. Salaison Levesque Inc. is a ready-to-eat meat processing establishment located in Montreal, Quebec.
The licence was suspended because the operator was failing to implement corrective measures required by regulation to ensure the safety of the meat products produced at the establishment.
The CFIA has determined that adequate controls for food safety related to pre-operational inspections of sanitation procedures were not being reliably implemented in the facility on a consistent basis.
There is currently no food recall associated with this suspension.
The company will not be able to resume operations until the necessary corrective actions have been implemented and the CFIA is fully confident in the plant's capacity to effectively manage food safety risks.
Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended or cancelled for failing to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations.
