The California State Fair has announced the winners of the 2014 Commercial Cheese Competition.
Cheesemakers from throughout California participated in the hope of being recognized as one of the best cheesemakers in the state.
This year’s judges for the 2014 competition included: Darrell Corti, Sacramento grocer and food and wine guru; Mary Dedrick, Dedrick’s Main Street Cheese, Placerville; Lynn Devereux, Marin French Cheese and Laura Chenel Chevre; Sacha Laurin, cheesemaker/teacher, Many Moon Cheese, Davis Food Co-op; Jana Werner, Market Hall Foods; Kristi Bachman, The Cheese School; Les Wood, retired, California Department of Food and Agriculture and Andrew Hillman, owner, The Cultured and the Cured, Sacramento.
