Butterball Launches Heart-Healthy Deep-Fried Flavored Deli Meats

Garner, NC – Eating healthy is top of mind, but compromising on taste is not something consumers are willing to do. Knowing that, Butterball announces three new deep fried flavored deli products for families to enjoy – Honey Turkey, Thanksgiving Style Turkey and Buffalo Style Chicken – that meet the American Heart Association’s (AHA) criteria for saturated fat and cholesterol. Contrary to popular belief, customers get the best of both worlds – deep fried flavors and heart-healthy meats rich in protein and nutrients.

In addition to Butterball’s deep fried flavored deli items certified by the AHA, the company has also launched two new deep fried flavored pre-sliced products, including Thanksgiving Style Turkey and Original Chicken. Perfect for lunches and protein-rich snacks, these pre-sliced options offer a delicious alternative to high-fat meats.

To qualify for AHA “Extra Lean” certification, Butterball’s deep fried flavored deli products had to meet the following nutritional criteria: 5 g or less of total fat, 480 mg or less of sodium, 2 g or less of saturated fat, 95 mg or less of cholesterol, less than 0.5 g of trans fat, and contain 10 percent or more of the Daily Value of 1 of 6 nutrients: vitamin A, vitamin C, iron, calcium, protein or dietary fiber. Consumers can rest assured their families will benefit from the heart-healthy meals without substituting taste and flavor.

Attendees at the upcoming International Dairy Deli Bakery Association (IDDBA) conference will have a chance to sample Butterball’s deli products certified by the AHA at booth number 2515.
