Fall River — What do millennials eat? Fast casual.
And now Blount Fine Foods is taking a stab at feeding the teenage to mid-30-year-olds, and anyone who wants fresh, ready-to-heat, home-style fare, with a revolutionary line of 10-ounce soups, and a new macaroni and cheese.
“Panera is driving the new generation of eating fast casual, versus fast food,” said Bount fifth generation leader F. Nelson “Todd” Blount, who took over as president and CEO in 2000.
Blount, which also makes the soups for Panera, is hoping millennials, busy baby boomers, and retirees who have enjoyed the experience of the fast casual kind of dining at Panera, will want to replicate the same experience at home or at the office with the single-serving soups.
Made under a new Blount label, the New England clam chowder, creamy tomato, broccoli and cheddar, chicken tortilla, baked potato and chicken noodle soups created by Blount Corporate Executive Chef Jeff Wirtz will be sold in refrigerated sections of retail stores, supermarkets, and convenience stores.
