Between Two Slices

Americans and sandwiches go together like… Well, they go together like ham and cheese. This love affair has gone on for generations. And luckily for us, each region seems to sport a traditional sandwich all its own. In Chicago, there’s the Italian beef sandwich. In Miami, it’s the Cuban. And you can’t possibly escape a Philly cheese steak in the City of Brotherly Love. We all love these classic sandwiches, but when you think about the combination of ingredients you can stuff between two slices of bread, you’re left with an open-ended equation that has an unlimited number of possibilities. And why limit it to just sandwiches? What about burgers, barbecue, hoagies, paninis, melts and more? That’s what this new column is all about.
