Green Bay, Wis. – Wisconsin based BelGioioso Cheese won a total of six medals at the World Cheese Awards contest held November 23, 2011 in the UK. Three awards recognized the entire line of BelGioioso Gorgonzola cheeses. Their exceptional signature blue-veined cheese, BelGioioso CreamyGorg® received a silver medal, Crumbly Gorgonzola a bronze medal and the newest addition, Crumbly Gorgonzola with Sheep’s Milk and its unique rich, creamy flavor, received a silver medal.
Starting with fresh, local Wisconsin milk, these Italian specialty Gorgonzola cheeses are hand-crafted by BelGioioso Master Cheesemakers and carefully aged, creating an exceptional full flavor and creamy texture. Their flavors are distinct and their textures are versatile; perfect for many culinary applications. BelGioioso CreamyGorg® adds a creamy richness to wood-fired pizzas topped with cipolline onions or combine with Mascarpone and heavy cream to create a tasty sauce for pasta, grilled beef, chicken or shrimp. Melt thin slices onto meatball sliders or simply serve a cut as part of a cheese plate paired with fresh pears and bread for dessert.
In addition to the three Gorgonzola awards, BelGioioso received a silver medal for their fresh and creamy Burrata, a bronze for classic Mascarpone and a bronze for Whole Milk Ricotta con Latte®.
