Anuga 2011: A Lot Of Interest In Prima Donna & Landana Cheese

With its many high quality and tasty cheese specialties, the Dutch Vandersterre Group seemed to be attracting a lot of public interest during the 2011 Anuga fair. Particularly the premium cheese brands Prima Donna and Landana seemed to be very much sought after and were eagerly tasted by the international visitors to the fair.

“At our natural, relaxed stand there was a continual flow of interest. This demonstrates that both our brands Prima Donna and Landana and their packaging are highly attractive to international visitors”; this was the conclusion of export-director Ies Verloop at the end of the fair in Cologne (Germany). The tasting of many delicious specialties was the main attraction at the heavily visited stand in Hall 10, where the enthusiastic team was standing by to inform interested parties about the wide product range with its many novelties.

Particularly Landana 1000 DAYS attracted more than its share of interest, on the one hand thanks to its distinctive silver appearance and on the other hand thanks to its full, mature but refined taste, which is only achieved after 1,000 days of maturation. Within the complete Landana product range (made from cow, goat or sheep’s milk) with classics such as Landana MATURED, Landana OLD and many choices of flavoring such as Landana WASABI and GREEN PESTO there were also some new specialties being presented, including Landana RED PESTO. Paprika, basil and garlic give this new option its unique flavor and as a red dairy product Landana RED PESTO in the form of a small four kilo cheese is a real eye-catcher in any display. “Just like Landana GREEN PESTO even its appearance promises more taste”, says Ies Verloop.

Vandersterre has demonstrated that coriander and fenugreek are tasty ingredients in cheese with the Landana goats cheese CORIANDER-FENUGREEK. This specialty was recently awarded the GOLD medal in Nantwich (UK). The next logical step forward from this success was made at Anuga with the introduction of Landana FENUGREEK using 100% Dutch cow’s milk.

It was not only in the area of flavors that Vandersterre had plenty of news to share. The packaging area also presented some interesting novelties, including a 150 gram fixed weight self-service packaging. An ideal package for high-quality specialties such as Prima Donna “formaggio con passion”. On the one hand this meets the needs of both trade and consumer, and on the other hand this packaging allows new target groups to be addressed.
