ALBANY—By way of a bill introduced Friday, State Senator Michael Ranzenhofer nominated yogurt to be the official New York State Snack, which could make New York the fifth state to make such a designation.
The nomination comes well-founded: Upstate New York is home to many yogurt and dairy producers.
“Both from a health standpoint and economic standpoint, yogurt is particularly suitable as the state snack,” the bill’s sponsor’s memo states.
